Bungalow Awnings
Bungalows typically have low clearance above their doors or windows, which leads many homeowners to think installing an awning is not possible. Single-storey buildings pose two challenges – limited space to mount the awning above doors or windows, and a lack of structural strength at the top of the wall.
However, thanks to the expertise of our installation team and innovative engineering of awning models and brackets designed for bungalows, we can provide stylish and functional shading solutions for your home.
Slimline awnings paired with brackets that clear guttering or obstacles like pipework make it easy to install modern awnings to bungalows with minimal clearance above windows and doors. With compact casing and sleek bracketing, we can install bungalow awnings to the perfect height and pitch without looking obtrusive. We provide a wide range of fixtures to ensure a secure and professional installation for bungalows or single-storey businesses.

Fixing Solutions for Bungalow Awnings
There are several ways to overcome the challenges of installing an awning to a single-storey building. The first is spreader plates which spread the fixing load down the façade while positioning the awning at the top. Gutter brackets will also likely be required. Commonly referred to as awning gallows brackets or bungalow brackets, these brackets are specifically crafted to enable the installation of an awning on single-storey walls where height or adequate mounting space above the windows is limited.
Another solution is stand-off brackets which are designed to be mounted over obstacles like pipes or decorative wall features. These brackets are also perfect for spanning across structures such as Juliet balconies. Lastly, free-standing “goal post”-style awning frames provide robust support for installations where the awning needs to be positioned independently from the building. These oversized brackets are ideal for lightweight structures or for setting up free-standing awnings that aren’t attached to the wall.

Over-glass Awning Installation in Worthing, Sussex
Our client in Worthing, Sussex contacted us to ask for assistance in reducing the heat in their kitchen caused by two large glass roof lanterns. They advised they have looked for solutions with other companies but the advice was so mixed that they were confused by the information.
Pergola awning Installation in Reading
Our brief was very simple and to the point – Our customer required an awning to run the full 8.5 meters across the back of the house and cover the terrace area to provide shade and rain protection from above as well as low sun in the evening that shone directly into the lounge.
Pergola Installation in Purley, Surrey
Our client, Mr W, contacted AQ Blinds looking for coverage for the terrace area at his house in Purley, Surrey.
The project brief only really detailed the problem the client had. In addition to this, the fitting area was a single-story part of the house and a single awning (without special spreader support plates) would have also caused a structural problem. The area was approximately 8 meters by 5 meters with York flagstone paving.
