Markilux 6000 installation in Heathfield, West Sussex
This recent Markilux 6000 installation in Heathfield, West Sussex presented our team with an interesting technical challenge.
The property provided no suitable structural fixing area for a conventional awning installation. Compounding the issue, there was insufficient space above the doors to position the system where required.
Rather than compromise the installation, Aquarius Blinds designed a bespoke steel goalpost support structure capable of carrying the awning independently of the unsuitable façade.
The frame also needed to be stepped forward from the building, positioning the Markilux 6000 correctly beyond the restricted area above the doors.
Attention was then given to making the engineering complement the architecture rather than dominate it. Both the Markilux 6000 cassette and bespoke steel support frame were finished in an off-white textured finish, complemented by Markilux fabric 314 87.
The specification went considerably further.
An electrically operated Shadeplus with complementary Transolair fabric provides additional protection from lower-angle sunlight, while Somfy io motorisation, vibration sensing and remote control provide convenient everyday operation.
Integration with Somfy TaHoma also gives the customer app-based control of the awning from their mobile phone, whether at home or away.
Projects like this demonstrate why surveying, structural understanding and installation experience are every bit as important as selecting the awning itself.
The finished installation may look simple. The engineering behind achieving it wasn’t.
