Markilux 5010 and 770 Awnings in Wandsworth Common, SW18

The brief was to create shade for a refurbishment property based in Wandsworth Common and reduce the solar gain issues for long term energy saving. The client was aware of the problems that could be potential issues and had the foresight to contact us at the beginning of the project. This was key to the work that could be achieved during the build.

We set about advising the key products that could work given the project brief and went about advising on hidden brackets incorporated into the building to support the awning.

Whenever an awning is retrofitted to a single-storey building, more often the product needs spreader plates to off-set the cantilever effect created with a large projecting awning; whereas, if we are contacted early enough, we will design, manufacture and instal special brackets fitted within the building, to avoid these unsightly externally fitted alternatives, and design a clean, smooth-looking product that is supported properly.

The roof glass also had a similar issue, which we addressed before the finished roof protection was completed.

Both areas were designed early enough to detail the brackets and power supplies in readiness for the final completion.
